Jennifer Kim is an award-winning writer, producer, and journalist whose career began at KCET/PBS, where she worked across news, children’s, and educational programming on several Emmy-winning shows. She later served as Series Producer for a youth educational series for the Japanese American National Museum, UCLA Center for EthnoCommunications, and California State Library. Her producing work has been recognized with numerous honors, including a Telly Bronze Statuette, Henry Hampton Award, Platinum WorldFest Houston Award, and Crystal Communicator Award for Children’s Programming. Jennifer’s award-winning narrative short film Korean American Witches Society is now on the film festival circuit. She is also an accomplished screenwriter whose scripts have earned multiple accolades and fellowships, and she is represented by IAG, Amplified, and Industry Entertainment, with projects in development. Her writing has appeared in the USA Today, Los Angeles Times, KCRW (NPR), and in several literary anthologies. Jennifer evacuated from the Eaton Fire with her two senior cats, Ellie and Roger, but the thought of the pets who couldn’t make it out in time never left her. That feeling and desire to tell their stories became the heart of Disaster Cats.
